To me the big point here is that the former greeters make less than employees classed as ‘associates’ and will now be doing some of the work of the latter, whose hours are being cut.

Seems like working at WalMart is a marginal job anyway; now they’re making it even more so, and you can bet those associates will be hustling their asses off and ready to do overtime for free, to out themselves on the supervisor’s list of ‘good’ employees.

I don’t think there is such a thing as a Wal-Mart without a greeter. It is part and parcel of the Wal-Mart experience — well it will be until they break what has worked since the beginning!

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a Wal-Mart with a greeter. I do know the greeter was a major part of the Wal-Mart experience — and so I’m surprised to learn of their demise.
