Revealing the Terms

The great thing about living in New York City is that everyone is in the same boat when it comes to making rent or paying the mortgage:  It Hurts!

In order to alleviate that pain — even though it might be considered crass beyond the horizon of the five
boroughs — is to ask, however bluntly, “How much is your rent, and what are the terms of
your buy in?”

Those who refuse to answer those questions, or those who are insulted by the directness of the inquiry, are not real New Yorkers and they do not understand the necessary escape of sharing the devastation of an openly shared survival meme — and they can never be fully trusted again.

Nearly eight hundred a month in maintenance, G-d willing if I am accepted by the co-op board. :)

  2. NYC is an expensive place, Gordon! It looks like your high maintenance fee means you’re in a big, beautiful, building — or you’re in a highly taxed area for your building.
