Test Match Dedication to Mumbai

India bounced back from the terror attack in Mumbai with a heroic six-wicket victory over England in the last cricket test match and the win was dedicated to the Mumbai victims. According to Sachin Tendulkar, whose glorious 41st Test century led the team to the terrific success, told:

What happened in Mumbai was extremely unfortunate and I don't think by India wining or me scoring a hundred, people who have lost their loved ones will feel any better. It's a terrible loss for all of them and our hearts are with them but whatever way we can contribute to make them feel better - we'll make that effort. From my point of view, I look at it as an attack on India, not just on Mumbai. We're Indian and that is how I look at it and I'd like to dedicate this hundred to all the people who have gone through such terrible times.

England captain Peter Pietersen said:

The tragedy in Mumbai was not in the script and for both teams to play Test cricket, and to put on a display like they have done, I think they can be proud of themselves.

Cricket is the lifeblood of India and It is good to see the life coming back to normalcy in full swing so quickly after a terror strike.

That is the message the country wants to convey: "We are indomitable by terror."

This is a wonderful and exceptional article, Katha! Thank you for sharing it with us!

I am so glad you posted about this - I have been reading the post match interviews. Far more appropriate it comes from you.

Hi David,

Thanks for publishing it in such a short notice, it is really great to see the country coming back to normal life.

Hi Nicola,

I am glad that the team England decided to come back and play the test cricket series, that was a brave step in this unrest, that speaks a lot!

Great article, Katha. It was awesome the way they got it together that way. I am reminded of a cricket scene from Kabhi Kuchi Kabhie Gham in which Hrithik Roshan thinks of his parents and wins the match.

Thanks Gordon!

The entire country breathes cricket, that way it was a good bounce-back.

I haven't seen "K3G" but "Lagaan" was a good experience!
